How do I get server reports to send to Technical Support?
To get the server reports from the WSS NAS, follow the instructions below:
1. Click on Start -> Run and then type "nas.msc" without the quotes and click on OK.
2. Under EMD NetStor WSS Support there is an option to Generate Server Reports.
Restoring the NetStor WSS LEv2 NAS to factory defaults
How do I restore the WSS NAS to factory defaults?
1. Make sure that the unit is powered down.
2. Insert the USB key. On the WSS LEv2 1Uv2 there are two USB ports in the front, on the WSS LEv2 2Uv2 there are two ports at the rear of the unit. Turn the unit on.
3. Once Acronis True Image has come up click on “Recovery”. The unit was preconfigured to boot from the USB key. If for some reason it does not please check the system bios settings.
4. On the “Welcome to the Restore Data Wizard!” screen click next.
5. You will need to wait a minute or two for the “My Computer” screen to populate.
6. Select “Removable Drive (B:)” and choose your backup file. Your backup file should be in the format of serial#.tib.
7. Click next once the option becomes available, this may take a moment.
8. Leave the default “Restore disks or partitions” and select next.
9. Select the entire disk by selecting the checkbox next to disk 1. Select next.
10. Leave the default of not resizing the partitions and select next.
11. Choose the disk that is 30GB in size (note it may show 27GB).
12. Select “Yes, I want to delete allthe partitions on the destination hard disk before restoring.” and then select next.
13. Leave the default of “No, I do not.” and select next.
14. At the additional settings screen select next.
15. If prompted for a user name and password leave them blank and select next. If not proceed to the next step.
16. Verify all information is correct and click on proceed.
17. Once the restore has finished remove the USB drive and click on the X in the upper right to reboot your system.
How to View and Set the IP Address for your NetStor WSS R2 (2U/3U/5U) Raid Controller
- With a locally attached keyboard and monitor (or IPMI if available), restart/start your WSS, wait for the RAID controller BIOS post screen (figure 1) and hit TAB or F6 to enter the BIOS
- Hit when you see the option to select an adapter
- Go to System Information and hit ; this will display the current IP address at the bottom (figure 2) (PLEASE NOTE: The default password is admin)
- If you wish to set/change the IP address, go to Ethernet Settings page (figure 3) from the main menu
- Enable or disable DHCP as desired
- If DHCP is disabled, select Local IP address and enter the desired IP
- Hit ESC to return to the main menu, and then hit F10 to restart the system with the new settings
