Connecting NetRom subsystems to your host

Connecting Netrom subsystems to your host

There is no software or manuals for these subsystems, they are very basic in the requirements for attaching to your host server.

Installation requires you connect the Netrom subsystem to a SCSI card in your host machine. We recommend an Adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI card or similar. For every (7) physical CD or DVD-ROM devices in your NetRom, you will need a separate SCSI channel or SCSI bus in the host.

For example, a 7-bay NetRom will require a single-channel SCSI card, and a 14-bay NetRom will require either a dual-channel SCSI card, with each channel connecting to a set of (7) devices in the NetRom, or two single-channel cards. The back of the NetRom will feature SCSI centronics connections by default, and we normally provide a Centronics-to-HD50, HD68 or VHDCI cable, depending on your needs for the SCSI host bus adapter side.

Once your SCSI card is properly installed, you simply need to connect the Netrom to the card with the necessary cable and the host machine will then see the optical drives as if they were locally attached to the system directly. Your operating system and applications can then utilize them.
