Factory Reset Controller to Default values

How do I reset my NAS-Z/SecurNAS to factory default settings?

NOTE: This will not delete the data on your NAS-Z/SecurNAS, however you will need to re-input your IP/network information along with any security settings.

If you do not have an LCD panel on your NAS-Z/SecurNAS, skip to step 1. If you do have an LCD panel you will simply need power the unit on, wait for it to display 'POST' and immediately start tapping the enter key (far right key) until 'Reset Detected' is displayed.

1. Locate the reset button which is on the front bezel and is in the 8'th slot from the left on the lower left front of the bezel.

2. With the NAS-Z/SecurNAS powered on and idle (Status LED should be either solid green, or blinking amber), press the reset button (step 1) with a heavy duty paperclip and hold it down until the Status LED turns off (about 12 seconds).

3. Release the reset button, The NAS-Z/SecurNAS will automatically reboot in a moment.

The ZerverView utility can be used at this point to set an IP address, or if DHCP is running on your network, an IP should be assigned automatically. The ZerverView utility is located on the NAS-Z/SecurNAS support page for download, and included on the companion CD.

If ZerverView fails to set an IP address for your NAS-Z/SecurNAS or fails to find your NAS-Z/SecurNAS, here is some information you may find helpful:

The default name is Zxxxxxx where x=the last 6 digits of the MAC address of the NAS-Z/SecurNAS (printed on the bezel, or on the original server report included during shipment.)

The default IP address of the NAS-Z/SecurNAS is 10.10.10.10. If there is no DHCP server or it was not assigned an IP address, you will need to connect a workstation to the same switch/hub as the NAS-Z/SecurNAS, disconnect any uplink connection, and set that workstation to an IP address of 10.10.10.1 and subnet of 255.255.255.0 with no gateway value set.

Once this is done, you can access the NAS-Z/SecurNAS and set a permanent static IP address via the admin web interface.

You can access the web based configuration via your web browser by typing in the NAS-Z/SecurNAS's IP address.

Note: The default admin user name and password are admin and admin.

Reset Administration Password

The default login name is admin and the password is admin.

In the event you have lost your old password and cannot login, you will need to do the following:

1. Power the NAS-Z/SecurNAS off.

2. Locate the reset button which is one the front bezel and is in the 8'th slot from the left on the lower left front of the bezel.

3. Using a heavy duty paper clip, hold the reset button down while powering on the NAS-Z/SecurNAS.

4. The NAS-Z/SecurNAS's Status LED will begin blinking amber in a few moments. Once the LED is blinking amber, release the reset button.

5. Allow the NAS-Z/SecurNAS to finish booting. Once done, the password will be reset to 'admin' for 5 minutes to allow the administrator to access the web interface and change the password.

3. Login to the NAS-Z/SecurNAS using the same administrator account you would use to login the admin web interface.

4. Download the firmware file from the main NAS-Z/SecurNAS support page if you haven't already.

5. ZerverView will then ask you for the path to the NAS-Z/SecurNAS firmware image. Select the file.

NAS-Z/SecurNAS not found in ZerverView

ZerverView doesn't find my NAS-Z/SecurNAS, what do I do?

If your NAS-Z/SecurNAS is on a different segment than your workstation, you may need to manually tell ZerverView the IP address of your NAS-Z/SecurNAS.

Open ZerverView and go to the 'options' menu and select 'Edit Remote Server List'; add the IP Address of your NAS-Z/SecurNAS.

ZerverView unable to open/bind socket error message

ZerverView displays an 'unable to open/bind socket' error message, how do I fix it?

Error Message: When launching ZerverView, the error message 'Unable to open/bind socket' appears.

Overview: ZerverView uses a special port number on the workstation and the NAS controller to 'talk' to each other. This same port number conflicts with the Hewlett Packard JetAdmin printer service.

Solution: Prior to launching ZerverView, disable the HP JetAdmin service on the workstation. You may also choose to install ZerverView on a workstation without the HP JetAdmin software.

How to submit server report

How do I submit my server report to Technical Support for review?

1. Enter the following URL into your web browser to access the server report: 'http://ip-adr-of-nas/admin/system' where 'ip-adr-of-nas' is the IP address (or name) of your NAS server.

2. The NAS may prompt you to login as the admin and for the admin password, do so if prompted.

3. A page will load and you will need to save the web page as an HTML file. To do this in Internet Explorer go to 'File', then 'Save As', choose HTML page only, and save the file.

4. Now we need your drive configuration. Enter this URL, 'http://ip-adr-of-nas/admin/showdevs' and save the HTML file as before.

5. Next we need your share configuration. Enter this URL, 'http://ip-adr-of-nas/admin/shares' and save the HTML file as before.

6. Last we need the RAID/JBOD configuration. Enter this URL, 'http://ip-adr-of-nas/admin/showdevs?fnc=raid' and save the HTML file as before.

7. Please attach all the HTML files to your Technical Support trouble ticket for an engineer to review. If you do not have an open trouble ticket, you may open one by clicking here.
