Sony offers a complete line of Advanced Intelligent Tape™ (AIT) storage products, from entry-level to enterprise, delivring a range of capacities, performance and price points.

AIT is an innovative format ideally suited for real-time multimedia data acquistion, midrange storage management, unattended backup, and transportable storage applications. The compact footprint, variety of interfaces, and low power requirements allow for easy integration. Advanced features provide increased performance, reliability, and functionality, such as Write Once, Read Many (WORM) for enhanced data security.

  • Sophisticated data access capability with the optional Memory-In-Cassette (MIC), a 64-kbit meory chip embedded into the data cartridge: Provides high speed file location and file access.

  • Super Head Cleaner™ mechanism: Provides an automated cleaning solution increasing head life and reducing the need for periodic cleaning.

  • Adaptive Lossless Data Compression (ALDC) provides greater data compression efficiency: Offers average compression of 2.6:1.

  • Helical scan recording writes the tape in one pass with a slow tape speed: reduces wear-and-tear on the tape media and drive, increasing reliability and head life.

  • Backward compatible: Offers flexibility and convenience and provides investment protection.*

  • Write Once, Read Many (WORM) functionality: Provides added security reducing the likeihood that recorded data will be maliciously or inadvertently erased or altered.**
