HDD Storage Devices, RAID:
Up-to 4 or 8 physical hard disk drives per server, up-to 4TB capacity per unit.
- 1U rackmount = 4 physical hard drives per server.

- RAID level 0, 1 and 5 supported, with optional global hot-spare.
- Up-to (4) concurrent RAID arrays.
- Dynamic RAID 5 expansion scalable up-to 2 TB capacity per volume.
SmartExtend iSCSI based technology included allows capacities of up-to 22TB.
- Up-to 10 NAS RAID add-on volumes can be connected to the NAS header, turning it into a gateway.
- The NAS header will manage all file sharing roles, security, etc., from a single interface.
- All users connect to a single NAS device network namespace to access all storage capacity.
- Each individual NAS RAID add-on volume is limited to 2TB capacity and features its own stand-alone RAID 5 array for optimum performance.
- The maximum single share size is 22TB. Up-to 1000 shares can be created.
Event Monitoring and Environmental:
- LCD console and keypad displays critical system events.
- RS-232 DB9 serial interface for connecting to APC SmartUPS for controlled shutdowns.
- Network UPS (RFC-1628) for connecting to most UPS's for controlled shutdown over network.
- Sensors: CPU temperature, fan speed, power voltages, and disk drive health.
- Customizable email notification of critical events

| System Management & Disaster Recovery: |
- Most network backup platforms supported such as Microsoft Backup, and Legato Networker.
-
Available locally attached tape backup supports most SCSI devices, such as AIT, LTO, DAT, DLT, SDLT. Built-in task scheduler, selective file restorer. Additional purchase of license key required to active auto-loader/library functionality..
-
Email notification and SNMP traps for monitoring events.
-
Operating system stored in non-volatile DOM (disk on module), reducing chance of failure.
Snapshot file system, previous version recovery:
- 256 snapshot licenses per DataNAS Director.
- Task scheduler to define frequency and day/time a snapshot occurs.
- Roll-back a single file, directory, or an entire volume with the click of a button.
- Administrator can allow network users direct access to snapshots, or restrict access to admins only.
- No need to pre-allocate or reserve disk space up front for Snapshots. The snapshot will only occupy space as-needed, and will not cause a low-disk space condition on the NAS.
SmartSync FILE REPLICATION and DATA SYNCHRONIZATION:
- Secure data transfer using SSL encryption
- Remap port number for specific firewall protected applications
- Optionally compresses data before transit to minimize network bandwidth
- Network bandwidth throttling, specify unlimited or limit data transfer by KB/sec
(kilobytes per second)
- Optionally retain file permissions and security (ACL’s) on destination
- Optional Include/Exclude file filter wildcard lists
- Choose Quick Sync for a date stamp comparison, or use default CRC-32 method for verifying data changes
- Only transmits data that has changed (delta blocks) to minimize bandwidth
Trend Anti-virus Real-time or Scheduled virus protection:
- Real-time, scheduled, or disable virus scanning
- Automatic virus pattern updates over internet or via uploaded file
- Customizable file extensions to scan/not-scan
- Quarantine support
- Administrator alert of out-dated virus pattern or virus found
- Anti-virus engine is capable of scanning multiple levels of compressed files
- Real-time scanning is supported for all protocols except NFS.
NFS users should use scheduled virus scans
SmartExtend iSCSI storage over IP add-on modules:
- SmartExtend technology is based on iSCSI and allows a single DataNAS Director to power up-to (10) additional NAS RAID add-on volumes.
- In this configuration, the DataNAS Director becomes the NAS header/gateway, and will control all volume and file sharing functions of all add-on volumes from a single interface.
- Each add-on volume is configurable with 500 GB to 2TB of storage capacity.
- Each volume features its own dedicated RAID 5 volume array for enhanced performance.
- Gateway features automatic renegotation of any failed add-on volume and provides administrative alerts.
- Up-to 1000 total shares can be created.
- Network users will access a single namespace (a single persistent connection) and can access all 22TB capacity from the DataNAS Director gateway.
SUPPORTED LANGUAGES:
- Web pages: English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Japanese,
French, German, Italian, Spanish
- Code-pages: English, western European, Arabic and Hebrew, CJK DBCS, Unicode
Included Windows Application Software (not required):
- NAStart software easily discovers new DataNAS Filer's on the network for quick and painless first-time system setup.
- Import/export the configuration settings of your NAS and save them in a file using NAStart.
